remember when rainbows existed

and there really were pots of gold at the ends

when fairytales were genuine

and dreams really did come true

when imaginary friends were all you had

and real friends didn't matter

when first kisses were special

and sent your head reeling with realism

when love was true and real

and made you feel special

what are rainbows but science

and gold but a mere possession

and fairytales but dreams

that never do come true

and imaginary friends go away

as do your real ones that didn't matter anyway

and kisses are nothing but kisses

and the reeling just lack of oxygen

and love just something made up

to comfort the lonely.
