I saw one guy go to jail for $15 behind. His ex spoke up on his behalf at court saying he was keeping up and could pay her the rest out of his next check. The judge ordered her gagged and threatened her with contempt....Then threw the dude in jail for 30 days. Thats our wonderful legal system at work for you. BTW.... after he got out he was $250 behind and couldnt make it up and got thrown in jail again. Now his kids have no support and no father. ^_^

The guy loses his job because he keeps being thrown in jail then what? Keep him jail? How does that even make sense. Who ever has the kids should be able to afford them with out taking money from the ex. What would you do if your ex was dead? starve?

It does take two to tango but if you can not afford the child on your own then split custody. If the sperm donor doesn't want to keep up his half of the responsibilities then he should be willing to pay you to do it for him. So what's the problem?.

They were dealing with the upbringing of their child together. Ed went to court with his ex on his side. He only owed $15 and she was not pressing the issue. She was willing to make new terms. It was the judge that was out of line. Yes he also lost his job, his apartment, and most of his possessions.
If ya ask me, the judge should be thrown in jail for such reckless enforcement. even though ed is a dick and keeps hitting on my girlfriend, I dont believe he deserved such harsh punishment for being $15 behind.

It was the judge that was out of line. Yes he also lost his job, his apartment, and most of his possessions.
If ya ask me, the judge should be thrown in jail for such reckless enforcement. even though ed is a dick and keeps hitting on my girlfriend, I dont believe he deserved such harsh punishment for being $15 behind.

The guy wouldn't have to worry about losing his job or doing time in jail if he just kept up with his end of the deal. A deadbeat dad isn't just thrown into jail the first time round. No, it takes numerous times of being behind on child payments or not paying altogether. Courts don't want to throw Dad's in jail for not paying child support. They want Father's to work and take care of their families. It's the fathers who are constantly neglectful. I agree with you Decorus. TWO people are responsible for the child. In some cases the man more than the woman. The woman is the child's mother for god sake. Somebody needs to be at home to raise the child. Bottom line. DON'T HAVE KIDS IF YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEM. Everybody feels like that. These DEADBEAT fathers are anger producing. All they give a rats ass about is dumping their sperm in some chick and moving on. Ultimately the woman is the one who is responsible for getting pregnant, because she's the only one who CAN get pregnant. That's why it's important that she makes sure BOTH parties use protection.
My advice to John Riley Smith, Jr. You don't want to do time in jail, pay your god damn child support. GET IT! clunkhead

Court ordered to give up half his earnings to subsidize his ex's life style. How is that even right? well um.. I don't know but she was "used to" that life style. SO WAS I.. and now I have to live in a studio apartment.. I don't think so. I don't think so. I can take care of my own kids. I don't need to pay you to do it for me.
And what happens when you lose your job to a lay off? 30 days behind and no more drivers license. 30 DAYS NOT ONE DAY MORE!!! It happened to my brother so u can suck off if you think I have sympathy for your argument.

My mother used all the child support my father paid for rent and car payments (thats what the alimony was for) and other things not directly related to me like say education or clothes. My father never missed a child support payment, and my mother never faltered in spending it.
Why do I agree with the other argument:
Why bring a child into the world that you cannot support. I believe you should be able to provide everything a child needs before you consider having one. Not play catch up after you impregnate your girlfriend.
