Do You Know Who I Am?

Writings – Poetry

do you know who I am, well I don't either
sometimes in my mind I feel the need to meet her
the one the cute short beautiful girl
that's going to help me get through this messed up little world
she'll identify this man, with all that she does,
she'll do all that she can to prove who I am
a money hungry mongrel I feel that she'll find
when she goes to pry open the brain of mankind
looking for personality and a sense of identity
this is my question where is it I have a need
to free my soul and let the blind man see
living it up greatly in a woven world of greed
lonely and stoned from articulate expression
lost on a soul search is my general impression
of where she is during this statement of ingestion
yearning for another and a spontaneous injection
of life and color to our general surroundings
happily again suddenly its profounding
listening to the lyrics tell me how is it sounding
for me to pour my heart out is its really astounding
to talk to the paper more than I do my mother
my sibling my dad or my significant other
is it all a smoke screen a blanket of cover
or an under lying reason why I shy from another
all the questions that I ask are not fast to be answered
talking through this pen a response would be absurd
but what do you expect from one slightly left
from the world of reality quickly that I fled
so my question is this that where is the one
that when always with delivers nothing but fun
or does she exist or even matter
my brain full of shit and nothing but clatter
but will I find her this I can't fathom
like winning the lottery slowly then add some
dreams to this world of nothing but shit
finally you realize that your just not getting it
what you deserve and what's right fully yours
as they come up you hear nothing but slurs
one reason or three its just not for me
this is what I'm thinking when thinking of the sea
of persons and people that make up the masses
that fill up the world and general elect classes
from the west to the east and from the north to the south
these are my feelings when spoken with clout
and this is how it is when I open my mouth
my heart ill be hiding in a soft little pouch
do you think this poem will end, not if I don't sleep
my heart and my soul to the paper it creeps
crept it was said that its all in my head
as I write these lyrics laying naked in bed
fleeing to the sanctum of colorful dreams
nothing but fantasy is all that it seems
releasing these words by any poetic means
is an end to it all to all that's foreseen
so with that said I bid you a good night
colorful thoughts wondering in flight
not knowing what's true what's wrong or what's right
living in illusion this I just might
wake with the sun with dreams clear in sight
remember that life is one extended fight
the battles will raise they'll come and they'll go
in this messed up eternity of your life show

Where are the apostrophe's ???
written by Clifford Scott Carson , June 06, 2009

The way this is written is very confusing. When you spell "she'll", you need to include an apostrophe between the "she and the "ll". Otherwise it reads SHELL, like a sea shell, very confusing. As for the poem, you only have one cadence over and over and over again, but maybe that's because you were tired when you wrote it. It's definitely a poem of longing and regret. It didn't even sound like it started rhyming until the end, basically because there are no comma's after each line which it SORELY NEEDS. Could be a curiosity piece, but as it's printed now, it reads like one big long run on sentence with no comma's and no periods and no capitol letters telling the reader when to start and stop or pause and begin.

The line "finally you realize you're just not getting it what you deserve and what's rightfully yours" ? That sounds like someone who expects everything to happen by magic.

Bottom line, In order for the "poem" to make sense it needs apostrophe's, comma's or capital letters in the appropriate places in order to distinguish itself as a poem. As it is now, it reads like one great big long incoherent MISHMASH .

It’s a poem, not a work of literature… moron

Apostrophe's aside your comment side steps the artistic leeway given to poetic expression.

All writing is a form of literature . . . lazy ass
written by Clifford Scott Carson , June 16, 2009

One either wants what they've written to be read correctly or they don't. It's not like you're reciting it in front of a crowd and someone has taken umbrage with the way you're saying it. Get a clue.

written by Angel , June 27, 2009

I think it is wonderful! Your use of poetic license or artistic license is totally correct here..puncuation of any kind is totally up to the writer. I got what you were saying clearly as I myself am writer. Kudos to you!
