promises are nothing more than weak foundations
upon which we build our hopes and dreams
yet we just sit idly by watching them crumble and fall
dreams are nothing more than weak walls
upon which we rely for warmth and protection
we sit and watch them fall inward with each gust
of turmultuious wind that brings misfortune and pain
hopes are nothing more than leaky roofs
upon which we rely for completion of our souls
we sit and watch the raindrops fall pitterpattering on our beds
soaking them through with salty tears from weakened hearts
lies are nothing more than this foundation
upon which we built our hopes and dreams
yet we just sit idly by watching them crumble and fall
misinterpretaions are nothing more than crumbled walls
upon which we relied for warmth and protection
yet we sit and watch them fall inward upon us with each gust
of wind that brings misfortune and pain, rather then holding them up
and reinforcing them with love
pains are nothing more than shattered hopes and leaky roofs
upon which we relied for completion of us
yet we sit idly by watching raindrops fall pitterpattering on our bed
soaking it through with salty tears from my weakened heart.
