the devils game

Writings – Poetry

Once you get stuck in his town
He won't let you stand there
You have to lay down
Of course you know how to play when you come
You don't need no kind of education
Because you're born into sin
But what you see
He may take you through worse
Last come insecurity
He doesn't introduce you to the game
You have to already know
Pay attention to his soldiers
Or pick and choose your lane
If you pick the wrong one
Game over
You loose,
You're trapped and chained
Mystery Women taking over
If you pick the right one
You passed the first level
On your way to beating the devil
Devil always have his soldiers to look out
One named Mental Abuse
Second named Emotional Abuse
Third named Crack who got married to Cocaine
Fourth named is Heroin with Needle the only way to survive
In order to reach its goal to be affective
Fifth named is Marijuana one of its relative name is Mary-Jane
Sixth name is Ex and Pills with the only goal to kill
Seventh name is Alcohol if you fall then more for all
Eighth and last is everything that falls under Insecurity
You choose to be the opponent or player
If one attack and grab hold of you
Then that's the end of you and your life
Now for all you teenage female
Who don't care where you going and wantin to be trife
Mark my words
"Something's coming
I'm telling you now
It's that Mystery Women"
So once you enter the town
They already know your name
All you have to do is press "Start"
And you wound up

SOUTHERN ORIGINS
written by Clifford Scott Carson , July 30, 2009

The line "Playing the Devil's Game" is a very southern term. Often and overly quoted, even obsessed over by many, it's a real standard.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
written by Clifford Scott Carson , July 30, 2009

I would like to think that people have evolved pass the point of lumping marijuana into the same category as crack, meth or heroin. The majority of pot smokers that I've known did not go on to use harder drugs. I've smoked pot in my life but never have I tried crack, heroin or meth. In fact, the majority of people who smoke pot don't do cocaine, heroin, crack or meth. Meth/crack/heroin are drugs that eventually take one down in life. They're dumb drugs and having witnessed peoples behavior on them, it only reinforced my certainty on the subject.

Ultimately, everyone has to learn to manage his or her own life without medicating problems. Once you get straight with yourself, drugs don't work the way they use to. The mind is everything. Why break it down with chemicals that literally puts holes in the brain, such as meth?

You have to take personal responsibility for your life, otherwise you will always be the "victim", blaming outside sources. One can't blame the pusher, the doctor or peer pressure for making oneself an addict. True, that don't help the situation, but ultimately the responsibility is yours.

As for the southern origins, I don't know exactly where I would fall in that category? I was born and raised in the south, but both my parents were from Pittsburgh, Pa, so I guess you could say I had the best of both worlds. Growing up in the south I noticed a tendency of many people to blame the "devil" for their bad behavior. To me, it was just another way to deflect the responsibility off of themselves.

very well

very well written, and yes you do have a point, and a very good one at that. though many people do blame the "devil" for there wrong deeds or insecurity, thats not where i was going with it though.

i was pointing it to you have to choose your path wisely or you might make the mistake of getting taken into a bad situation or "game" if you will.

i was also explaining all the "bumps in the road" on your way to becoming the person you want to be, on the path you want to be on. yes, most people know all those problems such as drugs and everything, but some people need it in a diffrent perspective to fully understand.

everybody wants to be there own person, and make there own path. but some have already chosen there path, and they have lost the "game"

Thank you for clarifying

I would like to think that the "lost game" can be turned around if one believes it can. Trouble is, the mind is very powerful. The thoughts we think are so important. If not maintained properly depression can bring on alot of despair and hopelessness. It builds a momentum in what can seem like a never ending battle of ones own will and mind. Just to pull oneself out of it is a feat onto itself. I know, because I've been there. One looks for that one thing, anything that can cause a distraction from the "bad tapes" and the tricks the mind can play. That thing in your head that say's "don't go there" . And what triggers it? Circumstances and tough times. Worse thing to do is to mix drugs with depression. Yeah, there is a relief for a while, but then the depression returns worse than before. After all, drugs and alcohol are depressants. it's like throwing kerosine onto a fire, but people do it every day just to manage their pain.

Staying sober, no matter what is the only way to conquer depression.

i agree
written by brandi clements , August 04, 2009

i agree and understand what your saying, but like i said this poem was mean to put everything into a diffrent perspective for people. some people may look at this like its a bad example, but others may feel like it is a good example... everyone had their own opinions and ways of looking at and explaning things, i myself enjoy poetry, and understand it. personlly it gives me a better "picture" of what is going on and what the message is trying to get threw to you. i think that people just sitting there telling you not to do something makes people want to do it just to make ther person that is boring them mad or whatever, so by putting it into something someone enjoys such as poetry, stories, picts, ect. it makes them actually want to listen, and pay attention to what is going on... like i said thats just how i feel
