UTOPIA HOLLYWOOD STYLE - What it's like when we die

Entertainment - Movies

Throughout my adult life people have occasionally pondered and often asked me what I thought death was like.  Or rather, what I thought dying and then heaven was like?   Well, that's an interesting question.  Interesting in the fact that in life we often have to go through horrible experiences in order to get to good experiences.   I think death is like this too, where as the horrible experience is the dying process itself and the entrance or passover into the next world makes up for what we had to go through.    So now whenever anyone asks me that question I tell them that I believe death is like this scene in the 1973 version of LOST HORIZON.   Check it out . . .

To believe in heaven you must believe in hell
written by Morgan Hill , October 10, 2009

I assume the entrance to Shangri-La is the entrance into heaven? So if that is the case then what is the Hollywood version of hell that best supports your view? Do I see a clip of Little Nicky coming?

THERE IS NO SUCH PLACE AS HELL
written by Clifford Scott Carson , October 10, 2009

There is no such thing as hell, except as a state of mind. We all come from the same place, the same basic goodness. The only hell that exists is the hell that man creates for himself due to his lack of insight and consciousness. People who need to believe in hell as a place that "bad people" go when they die are also the same people who need an enemy to fight. It's an extremist mentality. It's a mentality that has never stretched itself beyond the literal minded. It's a mind that only thinks in black and white, good and bad, extreme right or wrong terms. The concept of Hell is being kept alive by the people who NEED to believe it, but those people are in the dark and are not awake yet. They still have an agenda to push and a selfish area in their lives that is very wrong that they are still trying to prove is right. In short, people who believe in hell and satan and all that nonsense are stuck in their lives, in their thinking. They're stuck on skip and they lack imagination. Keeping this exhausting activity of theirs alive is easier for them than it is to go through the process of change. They're happy being old curmudgeons and dumping on people.

You could say the same thing about Heaven..
written by Morgan Hill , October 11, 2009

What makes hell so different then Heaven?

There is no such thing as heaven, except as a state of mind. We all come from the same place, the same basic goodness. The only heaven that exists is the heaven that man creates for himself due to his lack of insight and consciousness. People who need to believe in heaven as a place that "good people" go when they die are also the same people who need a reason to be good. It's an extremist mentality. It's a mentality that has never stretched itself beyond the literal minded. It's a mind that only thinks in black and white, good and bad, extreme right or wrong terms. The concept of Heaven is being kept alive by the people who NEED to believe it, but those people are in the dark and are not awake yet. They still have an agenda to push and a selfish area in their lives that is very wrong that they are still trying to prove is right. In short, people who believe in heaven and god and all that nonsense are stuck in their lives, in their thinking. They're stuck on skip and they lack imagination. Keeping this exhausting activity of theirs alive is easier for them than it is to go through the process of change. They're happy being old curmudgeons and dumping on people.

YES, this can be heaven right here NOW too
written by Clifford Scott Carson , October 11, 2009

Yes, heaven is a state of mind as well. Heaven can be a miles beyond the moon or right there where you stand. But what makes heaven more real in a sense than hell is the fact that the universe and it's energy come from a basic law of love as God does also. We all are apart of that love and come from the same universal love. On this earth we live in a world where there are alot of people who don't choose or want love. God gave all of us free will. That's his gift to us. Once you have consciousness you understand that you really can't do to someone else without it having an effect on yourself. When one does the unethical thing it's going to have an effect on him whether he's aware of it or not. You can't do to someone else without it affecting yourself. It's best to create heaven where you are, right now. No time to wait. There is always something we can do to make NOW more encouraging and inspiring.

ALSO MR. HILL, rather than being a SMART ASS . . . .
written by Clifford Scott Carson , October 11, 2009

you might try understanding something on a deeper level other than a purely sarcastic one. That's boring.

Not being a smart ass..
written by Morgan Hill , October 11, 2009

Asking a logical question and making a logical point. From a point of logic, How can you argue against one and not the other? Every thing you said about one can be said about the other and vice versa.. What argument do you use (besides YOUR beliefs) to support your case? So YOU believe in one and not the other. Ok, I can accept that as one of YOUR beliefs. In my opinion YOUR belief on it's base is both illogical and irresponsible..

YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN IT FOR YOURSELF
written by Clifford Scott Carson , October 11, 2009

There's nothing I can say to someone who wants to stay stuck in archaic thinking. What do you have to prove me other wise? The fact is, YOU CAN have one without the other, you just don't want to believe it. I'm not here to convince you one way or another. You wouldn't believe me anyway, you'll have to learn it for yourself. In short, your future is my past.

That's funny..
written by Morgan Hill , October 11, 2009

I love how when people get frustrated from losing a debate they differ to insults like pre pubescent adolescents. "I know you are but what am I"... Seriously, I'm not saying that either one does or doesn't exist. What I am saying is, If you can argue for or against the existence of one.. then you can just as easily do that for the other.. Did God himself come to you in human form one night and say "Don't worry Cliff, there is no hell"? I don't think so... The existence of one and not the other is just something YOU believe for whatever reason. It's not even a belief based on the Bible, I know that and I'm not a biblical man. People are allowed to believe what ever they want to believe no matter how illogical those beliefs are.. Including you.

Let me share with you something..
written by Morgan Hill , October 11, 2009

One of my own illogical beliefs... I believe that if there is a God ( and the chances of this are favorable) that he is an all loving, peaceful God. Basically I do not think that a supreme being created us for entertainment value. And as much as I would like to believe this.. Christians, the nation of Islam and the bible in general SEEMS TO BE very pro war. What does war accomplish in the eyes of a God? For A supreme being that can crush anything at any time including his adversary that he cast from the heavens.. The only logical answer is entertainment.. He created us to see if he could win more souls than the devil>? I find all these beliefs and arguments to be illogical... Who would I be if I believed I was allowed to kill another human in the name of the lord or otherwise..? Would I be a soldier killing the evil fighters of foreign nations? Or a psycho path picking them off one by one here at home?

IT'S NOT A BELIEF, IT'S A KNOWINGNESS
written by Clifford Scott Carson , October 11, 2009

And they're quite different, believe me. That said, I'm not going to debate this topic with you in this particular forum. I'm not here to change your mind or to share with you the experiences that brought me to the place I am now. We all have to learn for ourselves. I was given a gift. That's all.

Here's to you finding your Shangri-La!

I'll drink to that..
written by Morgan Hill , October 11, 2009

And here's to your realization that your beliefs are empty and with out meaning if they do not subscribe to a base that is applied evenly to everything... Also known as being non hypocritical. You do realize that you have the same knowingness the extremist have when they blow people up.. Obviously one extreme to the other here but they know they are doing the right thing, just as you know you are right.

What I think of you . . .
written by Clifford Scott Carson , October 13, 2009

BUT THE WORLD IS FULL OF ZANIES AND FOOLS,
WHO don't BELIEVE IN SENSIBLE RULES,
AND WONT BELIEVE WHAT SENSIBLE PEOPLE SAY,
AND BECAUSE THESE DAFT AND DEWY-EYED DOPES KEEP BUILDING UP IMPOSSIBLE HOPES,
IMPOSSIBLE, THINGS ARE HAPPINING EVERYDAY.
