Four guys a crack head and a disgruntled police officer and I was in the middle of it. This is not the start of a bad joke either. This is the way I rang in my weekend on Friday afternoon...What a way to ring in the week end.

B. Martin of the Atlanta Police Department Badge #3373 was on my job site giving me a hard time for moving trash. Literally, he caught me moving trash from one section of the street to one giant pile. This is illegal. Do not touch the trash. Once it has been illegally dumped leave it alone. If you try and clean it up then you are now in possession of said trash and responsible for it. Seriously, if you pick up trash from the street, for whatever reason, do not put it down, at least not in the street that is. Otherwise now you are illegally dumping. Forget the fact that you have a call in to the City of Atlanta Department of Public Works for a bulk trash pick up and to ensure that they get it all, you want it all in one location.

In all factuality I was nearly arrested for hiring a crack head. And in all fairness, I didn't hire him. A guy I had working for me all week cleaning up this new listing hired him. And all he was going to be doing was helping with the moving of this final load of trash. As soon as B. Martin got out of his car he started harassing crack head and of course crack head points me out and then I get to bear the brunt of it. So in the future, if you're trying to clean up the city streets a bit don't use a crack head to do it.

So I got ticketed for disorderly conduct. Do you think I could beet the ticket? How much is a disorderly conduct ticket anyways? Who knows and I should care but it's a BS ticket from a cop that was bent out of shape for what ever reason. Although a minor one it is a criminal citation so I will fight it and take it to trial if need be...

Sounds like you were dumping alot of trash in a place where you're not suppose to be dumping. Every city has it's limits. Why would they give you a citation for disorderly conduct for dumping where you're not suppose too? Dumping the trash would be a citation for littering or "dumping" in a place without a permit. Disorderly conduct means you were out of control publicly. You were warned to stop and you didn't stop. Why would they give you a citation if the other (crack head) guy was caught doing it?

My dad was there with the trailer helping us move the trash from one location to another... That's it.. Anyone that knows my father knows that he would not allow me to illegally do anything let alone illegally dump trash in the streets of Atlanta...

Then the fine would have been "dumping trash without a permit" or something similar to that. Disorderly Conduct is for being drunk in public, disturbing the peace, or loitering in certain areas. It is also typically classified as a misdemeanor, so if your disorderly conduct citation is classified as a criminal charge than there must be more to this story. What is is? Were you guys defiant and mouthy with Officer Martin and that pissed him off? You'd be surprised how a little courtesy all round helps to smooth out the most complicated problems.

There is nothing else to the story. Was moving trash from one part of the street to another in one large pile so the city could come pick it up and it would all be in one location to make sure it all got picked up. Nothin illegal. Honestly the cop should have been happy you were cleaning up what he called "his streets" The street looked terrible and you were jus trying to make it look better. You are telling the truth, you were not "disorderly" and you should have not got the ticket. I think you should fight it because you didnt do anything wrong.

Seriously? what does it matter what i was doing anyways. I was there and saw and heard what happened. It doesnt really matter what i was doing does it? Plus every good worker needs lunch.. maybe your just jealous i wasnt handing you sandwiches for lunch.. food for thought

Believe me, if you were serving me lunch, it would be more than stale old sandwiches. Also afterwards, I'd be having a beautiful cake for desert, not your day old bake goods.

Argue the Ticket...What's the worst that can happen?

I think you should argue the ticket in court, citing the fact that you were ignorant to the law. Also, you may want to actually look the law up. Police are not walking Law Libraries. They simply know the basics. Good Luck!

DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK that Morgan Lane Hill, Jr WOULDN'T fight the ticket or argue against it? Is there anything he doesn't argue about? That's the better question. However, I agree with you, by all means fight the ticket. You also made a good point about cops not very as well versed in the law as most people think.
