TO THE UNINFORMED AND SEEMINGLY UNEDUCATED on HEALTH CARE

E-mail

Health - Medical

User Rating: / 1
PoorBest

What can you say when someone is misinformed and off on so many things? The United States is 39th in the world behind countries like Costa Rica and Lebanon on health care. The Infant mortality rate in this country is 30th in the world. A baby born in Cuba has a better chance of surviving than a baby born here.

THINGS YOU MAY NOT BE AWARE OF:

People don't come rushing from all parts of the world to the United States to pay more for health care. That just doesn't happen. It doesn't happen unless you're rich and you can afford it. Right now Americans pay MORE than any other developed country in the world for health care and we get the least care for it.

Guess what? We're in health care already. The Government is ALREADY in the health care business and has been for quite some time. It's called Medicare, VA disability, care for seniors, etc. It was Roosevelt who started that 50 years ago. Providing care for VA and seniors was something that Democrats are responsible getting passed. Republicans fought it as they fought Social Security 50 years ago. Democrats are also responsible for Social Security getting past. Republicans fought hard to prevent that from happening. Now they're whining that it could be taken away from them.

Just because we're going to provide health care for our citizens (like every other developed country in the world) doesn't mean we're going to be a Russia or a China. Most people don't know what socialism is. The Nazi's weren't a socialist group. That was a dictatorship. Get your facts straight.

United States is 39th in the WORLD of developed countries when it comes to providing adequate health care for it's citizens.
You want to find out where the United States ranks in health care? Check the infant mortality rate and life expectancy. A low infant mortality rate is a good health care system. In this country the infant mortality rate is ridiculously high.

The people who don't have money are the ones who are protesting health care reform. On average they tend to be religious, superstitious, feed on disinformation and fear and get the bulk of their information from Rush Limbaugh. Bill O'Reilly and the Enquirer. If you're a racist today, most likely you're a republican.

To those uniformed and seemingly uneducated: You need to increase your brain capitol. Learn new stuff. Put a new wrinkle in your brain. USE YOUR BRAIN! Education is something that should go on your entire life. Challenge yourself, it will make your brain work harder. If you really want to exercise your brain do something that is really hard for you to do. I guess it's too easy to pick up the Enquirer or watch Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh, huh?

Health Care Reality
written by John Doe , August 31, 2009

Fox news isn't doing any good to stimulate debate but instead pushing a pathetic agenda. Why not make the argument over health care about consumer protections and how we're going to pay for it instead of about the governments role?

Some people just dont get it and bend the facts to fit thier views
written by Luke Guidry III , September 01, 2009

"Guess what? We're in health care already. The Government is ALREADY in the health care business and has been for quite some time. It's called Medicare, VA disability, care for seniors, etc. It was Roosevelt who started that 50 years ago. "

Medicare is bankrupt. Expanding it to cover everyone bankrupts the country.

"Just because we're going to provide health care for our citizens (like every other developed country in the world) doesn't mean we're going to be a Russia or a China. Most people don't know what socialism is. The Nazi's weren't a socialist group. That was a dictatorship. Get your facts straight."

Go read a history book. The nazi's started out as a socialist party and then became a dictatorship. The same path we are on.

"The people who don't have money are the ones who are protesting health care reform. I dont watch O'Reilly or listen to Limbaugh, and you can keep your enquirer. I can tell you got this argument straight from pelosi's playbook, when all else fails, call 'em a racist. They must be if they don't agree with a black mans opinions. I'm still looking for that original thought you touted.

Bankrupt the county?
written by John Doe , September 01, 2009

I thought two un-need wars did that... We wouldn't even needed to go in to Afghanistan if Bush wasn't asleep at the wheel to begin with. How did Bush sell that war? WMD's How many of those did we find again? 1 or 2... I forget.. n e hoo

Clinton posted a budget surplus before he left office and bush spent money like he could print it. If the cost of health care continues to rise like it is then fewer and fewer people are going to be able to afford it.. Only in America does the prison population get better health care then most tax paying citizens and an entire political party can argue against health care reform with a straight face. When we have people losing their homes due to medical bills and people losing all coverage when they lose their jobs.. It's just amazing how great this country is not is so many ways.

Be suspicious of BOTH parties!!!!
written by Luke Guidry III , September 02, 2009

BUSH was a no good piece of crap as well. I'm not happy with anything he did in office and won't defend him or his lies. And I believe there were 0 WMD's found.

"Clinton posted a budget surplus before he left office and bush spent money like he could print it"

The federal reserve prints the money. The Fed reserve is a privately owned institution and not part of the government.

Obama is not doing any better, now with a 9 trillion dollar deficit to hand over to our kids and grand kids. 1 trillion is 2000 billion. his spending has already eclipsed anything bush dreamed of.

"Only in America does the prison population get better health care then most tax paying citizens "

And lets not leave out those stimulus checks paid out to convicts. better known as cash for convicts.

"and an entire political party can argue against health care reform with a straight face."

The republicans are not arguing against "reform", just partisan reform. It doesnt matter anyway, the dems will use the "nuclear" option to pass what they want.

"When we have people losing their homes due to medical bills and people losing all coverage when they lose their jobs.."

Easily fixed with a few laws passed to regulate the insurance industry, a complete government takeover is unnecessary and will certainly add to our out of control deficit.

The governments role in healthcare?!
written by Luke Guidry III , September 02, 2009

"Why not make the argument over health care about consumer protections and how we're going to pay for it instead of about the governments role? "

Because the government has no role but consumer protection in a free market society. A complete takeover of 1/7th of the economy is a dangerous power grab.

Do you really think congress will put themselves on the healthcare plan they want for all of us. NOT!!

A nice quote from our founding fathers
written by Luke Guidry III , September 02, 2009

When the government fears the people, we have Liberty!

When the people fear the government, we have Tyranny!

Do you see any fear from the elected officials at any of these town halls, republican or democrat. All I see is bullies telling us what is best for us. And they have made clear they don't care what the people think, that is the creepy reality I see.

Luke WHINES, offers up NO SOLUTIONS
written by Clifford Scott Carson , September 02, 2009

WHO DO YOU THINK PUT THIS COUNTRY IN FINANCIAL CRISIS Luke sweetie??

EIGHT YEARS OF THE BUSH/CHENEY administration and a war that we didn't need to start. THAT'S WHAT! THE WAR BANKRUPTED THIS COUNTRY. FIRST TIME IN AMERICA'S HISTORY that we STARTED a war! As if the U.S and it's world wide reputation for diplomatically isn't bad enough.? A WAR that cost this country 150 MILLION dollars A DAY, not a week, not a month. A DAY! 150 million dollars a day since 2003. Already the cost is approaching a TRILLION dollars. How many casualty's?? A war that made us hated by the entire WORLD! We were LIED to by that administration, don't you get that? And Cheney is STILL trying to get suckers like you and gullible people to think it was a good thing for this country. Nobody liked Saddam Hussein, but there were other ways of taking him out without killing thousands of innocent Iraqi women, children and seniors AND without costing this country as much as it did. Where are the rewards? How has it benefited America? And now that the U.S. has expanded the front in afghanistan it's going to COST EVEN MORE.

If not for that we would have had the money for health insurance.

Do you REALLY think this country would be in the debt it is if it wasn't for what the Bush/Cheney administration did? Does it INSULT you to remember that? Obama hasn't even been in office for a year and NOW it's all his fault?? WAKE UP! This is not about your ego. I'M SO SICK of people like O' Reilly, Limbaugh and that real disturbed Sean Hannity who do NOTHING but BITCH, COMPLAIN, scream the sky is falling, WHINE and CRITICIZE but CAN NEVER offer up the SOLUTION to any problem. YOU PEOPLE (and I use that phrase deliberately) DO NOTHING but tear people down who are trying to make it better for the overall good. In short, you're DOWNERS. A real pill to society and people that feed on disinformation, fear and false conspiracies.

Debt has been around for awhile...
written by John Doe , September 02, 2009

While Bush wiped out the budget surplus that Clinton created he still had a national debt to contend with. He just added to it like every administration does. He may have even added more than his fair share..

We didn't start this war but we could have prevented it.. And we didn't have to take it to Iraq.. They had nothing to do with it..

YOU'RE WRONG, WE DID START THE IRAQ WAR
written by Clifford Scott Carson , September 02, 2009

What do you mean, "we didn't start this war"?? We ABSOLUTELY STARTED THE IRAQ WAR. First war in history that America started and it was BUSH that started it. We were lied to by that administration. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. There were no weapons of mass destruction. Absolutely nothing. Bush was avenging the Gulf War his father became a part of and failed. Like all other wars the U.S. has been it, that was a war that was already going on that we made ourselves a part of. The IRAQ WAR WAS A WAR BUSH STARTED. Up until that time all the wars America got involved with were wars that were being fought between other countries. We just joined in the fray. Up until the Iraq war America had never started a war that wasn't already going on. They did this time and you can thank Bush and the war criminal Dick Cheney for it.

Economically America was in the Black when Clinton left office. The election with Al Gore was highjacked by Bush and his brother in FL. 9/11 might never have happened if Gore had been in office.

written by Luke Guidry III , September 03, 2009

"WHO DO YOU THINK PUT THIS COUNTRY IN FINANCIAL CRISIS Luke sweetie??"

Never call another man sweetie unless you are on your knees, and if you plan on going there with me... you'll end with your face in the dirt.

You should bother to learn a persons position before you start carrying on like a 2 year old. you are both arguing as if i agree with what Bush did in office. This country hasnt had a real president since Kennedy. As I have already said, Bush is a piece of shit and did our country no good. All he did in office was lie to the people and waste our money in his wars for oil. Money that would have been better spent looking for energy alternatives and fixing our broken government run programs.

"A WAR that cost this country 150 MILLION dollars A DAY, not a week, not a month. A DAY! 150 million dollars a day since 2003. Already the cost is approaching a TRILLION dollars."

Sucks don't it. I'm sure a navy seal team couldve taken him out no problem, but then it wasnt my decision to make.

"And now that the U.S. has expanded the front in afghanistan it's going to COST EVEN MORE. "

Its your precious Obama that you have to thank for this expansion. I believe I remember him saying something about bringing troops home..... well where are they? "Never let a good crisis go to waste" Rahm counsels him. So he'll send in more troops and waste more of our country's money and resources on BS, just like Bush.

I am a Libertarian. Look it up. I believe in defending our country from within against attackers that pose an imminent threat. Not starting wars to benefit big oil or to catch 1 fugitive.

I admire an impassioned argument for ones belief's. The country needs more people that care enough to put forth their opinions and have a debate about the issues that face us. There is no room for a "silent majority".

Luke on verge of homosexual panic
written by Clifford Scott Carson , September 03, 2009

Look you,

I cannot stand homophobia and guys like you who make threats at the slightest sign of their fey and fragile "masculinity" (if you can call it that) being in question. That's not the sign of a man dude. It's the sign of a guy who's unsure. And Luke, in actuality, it says alot about you. Not that your tough or any kind of bullshit like that because let's face it, all guys like to talk tough.

SO, what does it say about a guy who at the drop of ONE WORD automatically threatens violence, hurls homophobic slurs and actually has the audacity to ASSUME somebody wants him?? It says to me Luke that you're NUTS! I mean seriously looney. In fact, what that says to most intelligent thinking people is that you're essentially insecure and in question about your own self. Why else would you be so quick to want to fight and call people "faggot", let alone think they automatically want you?? I mean really stupefying.

Kinder to tell you now Lukey the 3rd, but secure men (or women for that matter) don't lash out suddenly at the drop of a hat or in this case, one little word. Only insecure people who are on the verge of a deep homosexual panic do. Confident secure men have no problem. They laugh it off or make a joke of it, ignore it, brush it off or have a better comeback to deliver. In short, you've exposed yourself Luke for all the world to see.

Time to seek therapy Luke, but don't waste my time on your bullshit and don't for a second ever think you'd ever have a chance with me. That just wouldn't happen. You know why? Because one of us would hate it and that one of us is ME. In fact, to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't light your stove if my house was on fire.

That said, the only thing I will say that I am in agreement with you on is the part about not starting wars. With that, we're in agreement.

Now go work on yourself.

You sure are fixated on your assumptions about me bro......
written by Luke Guidry III , September 03, 2009

Wow, to write such BS. You don't even know me and you assume all this shit. I'm in a very happy 10 year relationship that I'm quite comfortable with thank you very much, so I dont have to assume someone wants me.... I have gay friends and have no problem with their lifestyle. I was pissed and trying to get YOUR goat, i see that it worked.

You've already called me a racist, a republican, sweetie, lady, dick, asshole, etc...all because of my views. yeah, is it any wonder i got pissed and joined in your trash talking. Fact is, so far we only disagreed on the solution to our country's healthcare problem.

Now you want to talk about "hating me and people like me", well that doesn't really matter to me. If you've got that much time on your hands perhaps you are in need some therapy yourself. I don't hate you or people like you, I don't have time for shit like that. I bet it pisses you off that I like some of your art as well, sorry.

LiFESTYLE?? WHAT'S THAT MEAN??
written by Clifford Scott Carson , September 04, 2009

I'll accept your apology, but being gay is not a lifestyle. I always crack up when I hear that. Gays come from all walks of life and from all different backgrounds, i.e. conservative, liberal, democrat, republican, rich, poor, middle class, sexual, non sexual, young, old, etc. They also are in every different type of profession there is from politics to sports, construction, teachers, lawyers, barbers, doctors, etc. It's across the board. It's too diverse. Most gay people walking around, you wouldn't even know they're gay, because they don't stand out or fit the degrading hollywood stereotype. Referring to it as a "lifestyle" ??? What does that mean?? I don't even know what that means? If you're talking anal sex, more heterosexuals have that than homosexuals. In fact, a good percentage of gay men don't even engage in anal intercourse. That's another stereotype people have of them.

THAT GUY DOESN'T REPRESENT ANYBODY BUT HIMSELF
written by Clifford Scott Carson , September 04, 2009

So what? That guy doesn't represent anybody but himself. He can think and say whatever he wants. Doesn't mean he speaks for anybody else. You're going to form an opinion about millions of people based on one person says. Okay, let's apply the same logic to an uneducated black person who smokes crack and steals. Does that mean ALL black people do that? Personally, I think alot of gays in the "organized gay community" do themselves more harm than good. Too much emphasis is put on sex. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking sex, but the emphasis shouldn't be on it if one is trying to gain respect.
