The Child Support Administration Pisses Me Off

Once you have been issued a court order to pay child support, you can be "punished" in various ways for falling behind. For example, you may be put in jail for contempt, your tax refunds may be intercepted, your wages may be garnished, your child support obligations may be reported to credit reporting agencies, and your driver's license may be suspended.

What does driving have to do with child support? I understand the need to punish deadbeats and hold them accountable but again, what does driving have to do with child support? Does missing a child support payment make you a less safe driver? The answer to that rhetorical question is NO!! Quit messing with peoples drivers licensing. If you take someone's drivers license, How do you expect them to get to work in order to pay the child support? This is not a last resort type of punishment either, thirty days behind and gone it goes. And if someone is truly indigent, shouldn't we be giving them a hand up instead of a push down?

What is the thought process behind locking people up for being broke? If a dead beat is not broke, you have the ability to garnish wages, intercept tax refunds or in the case of the self employed you can always camp out by the cash register. With so many ways off collecting debt through court orders, Who are the idiots locking people up for this? Doesn't that cost us money as tax payers? How does this even make sense? First off only violent offenders should be thrown in jail and locked up for any kind of extended period of time, and secondly, What happened to not being jailed for any debt public or private? I didn't know there was a child support exclusion.

Remember it's a child, not a paycheck. Keep this in mind when your going to file a case and you know he's not the father.

My personal argument is this. I can raise my own child, I don't need to pay you to do it for me. Nor will I allow you to raise my child without me. I've already raise one child that wasn't mine and got burned in the outcome.

Let it be known that I am not advocating the non payment of child support but instead criticizing the method of which the administration goes about trying to collect it.

You can live a good life and have lots of friends but in the end the number of people that come to your funeral is usually dependant on the weather.
